The workshop runs over two 5-hour days

Part one focuses onunderstanding family harm holistically. You will gain an understanding of:

  • What family harm is
  • Related legislation from Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Theories to help build your understanding of the victim-survivor     experience
  • The impact of family harm on children
  • High risk flags to look out for

Part two focuses onhow to respond to risk within a family harm context. You will learn:

  • How to assess risk in victim-survivors and their whānau
  • How to safety plan with victim-survivors and their whānau
  • How to utilise other services and to create a “wraparound” response     to ensure safety and best outcomes for victim-survivors and their whānau

Participants will receive a certificate at thecompletion of the training.
